Interview Process

Looking back at the whole internship experience that I had, it all started out with the interview process that I had. It started in the summer of 2019 when I got an email from Saint Mary's about a potential internship at the Alice 97.3 morning show. The hours in the email said 5am-10am, which scared me, but also worked with my schedule, so I knew that I had to apply. When I applied I had to write a cover letter along with my resume, which was something I am not used to doing because a lot of jobs do not ask for cover letters, but this was good practice for me in the long run. A few days later, I got an email back from Uzette about scheduling an interview at the station as long as my class schedule worked with the required hours for the show. They did, so I received a call from one of the previous interns on the show to schedule my interview. To my surprise, the call I received was from a classmate of mine from Saint Mary's named Nicole. This was reassuring to me since it would be easier for me to go into the internship while already knowing someone who worked at the station.
When it was time for my interview I had all my roomates help me pick out an outfit and practice answering questions that they might ask me, which was very helpful of them. When I arrived at the building, they buzzed me up to the station where I was met with 2 other people applying for the same internship. I did not know that they were hiring 4 interns so this was scary at first because I though that we were all going to have to interview for one spot. But, it turns out that it was a group interview. Uzette took us into one of the studios to interview us and asked us all similar questions about why we wanted to work for the station. She then asked us what days we all wanted to work and next thing I knew, the interview was over. We had all gotten the internship.
