Editing the Podcast

Working for the Sarah and Vinnie morning show isn't always about finding the latest celebrity gossip, or the weirdest stories, sometimes we have to spend time editing audio for the show. For listeners who are unable to hear the show during the time that it is on air, they are can go onto the Alice website at anytime and hear any of the previous shows that they missed out on. The people who edit those podcasts are the interns. During the show itself, the interns take time to edit the audio that is being recorded as it goes on the air. We take the audio that has been recorded and put it into Adobe Audition to edit. When creating the podcast, it is important to take certain parts out, while adding new things. Listeners who missed the show do not care about past contests that they can no longer enter, so those get removed. Also, the recorded version of the show doesn't include any songs that are played live, so any parts of them talking about that audio has to be taken out. Adding 'bumps' is also important to create a seamless transition. When the show is on air, every 30 minutes the hosts go on break and allow a few songs to play. When you're listening to the podcast those songs aren't added, so we add 'bumps' into the audio to replace that awkward transition with a smoother one.
